Wireless CO2 Sensor and Modular Circuits from PASCO Win 2017 Tech & Learning Awards of Excellence
The latest addition to the growing wireless line of sensors and the innovative system used to teach the fundamentals of circuits without the mess of wires both received Awards of Excellence in the “Best New Products” category.
PASCO Scientific, a leader in 21st century science education, today announced that its Wireless CO2 Sensor and Basic Modular Circuits have been recognized in the Best New Products category of Tech & Learning’s 35th Annual Awards of Excellence program.
The prestigious Awards of Excellence honor innovative applications and technology that break new ground and help advance education in K-12 school districts and classrooms. Entries are considered for one of two categories — New Products or Upgraded Products — and are judged by a panel of educators who review, handle, and score each one individually.
Released this past spring, the Wireless CO2 Sensor joins PASCO’s line of wireless pH, temperature, pressure, force/acceleration, conductivity, light, voltage, and current sensors, as well as the Wireless Smart Cart which transmits position, velocity, acceleration, and force data to a computer or mobile device via Bluetooth® Smart. With the Wireless CO2 Sensor, students can measure the concentration of carbon dioxide gas in a closed system or an open environment without complicated, time consuming setups. The sensor also allows students to stream live data or collect and store data on the sensor using the sensor’s onboard memory, making it possible to run experiments for hours, days, or weeks.
Like the wireless sensors, PASCO’s Modular Circuits eliminate the mess of wires and thus provide a simple, visual, and cost effective way to strengthen conceptual understanding of key scientific principles. The Basic Modular Circuits kit contains 20 modules with the components — resistors, switches, batteries and more — physically visible on the tops of the modules along with their electronic symbols to help reinforce concepts. The modules can be used as standalones with basic lab meters or in conjunction with PASCO’s wireless current and voltage sensors and data collection and analysis software for a complete learning solution.
“The Tech & Learning Awards of Excellence have topped off an incredible year of awards and accolades for our wireless product line,” said Richard Escott, president of PASCO. “We are incredibly gratified to know that educators believe these science classroom solutions are among the best of the best, and endeavor to continue producing the tools and solutions that help teachers foster inquiry-based learning and bring science to life.”
PASCO has been designing, developing, and supporting innovative teaching and learning solutions for K–12 and higher education since 1964. PASCO’s team of educators, scientists, educational researchers, engineers, and many others is committed to the advancement of STEM education around the world. Today teachers and students in more than 100 countries use PASCO solutions.
