Driven Oscillation of Mass and Spring
The String Vibrator is used to drive the mass and spring, and the resulting oscillation is recorded using the Motion Sensor. The driving frequency is varied to observe the response above, below and at the resonance frequency of the system.

Featured Equipment
String Vibrator
Drives a string or elastic cord to produce a standing wave. Use it to study frequency, wavelength, and resonance. It’s well-suited for demos and hands-on experiments.
PASPORT Motion Sensor
The PASPORT Motion Sensor accurately measures the position, velocity, and acceleration of a target. It can be used to track the motion of balls, carts, people, and more.
Support
Many lab activities can be conducted with our Wireless, PASPORT, or even ScienceWorkshop sensors and equipment. For assistance with substituting compatible instruments, contact PASCO Technical Support. We're here to help.
