Use of PS-2008A SPARK SLS as an interface for SPARKvue or PASCO Capstone
How do I get sensor data into a computer using my SPARK SLS?
The PS-2008 SPARK SLS family of products can be used as an interface to get data into current versions of SPARKvue and PASCO Capstone software available at the download link below when the interface is connected to a computing device using a USB cable.
The cable that will attach the SPARK SLS to the computer is a USB A to mini B type cable. This is a common type of USB cable that is widely available, but it is also available at the following link.

Please make sure that you have the latest version of SPARKvue or Capstone installed on your computer. Run the software, and while the software is running, connect the USB cable between the SPARK SLS and the computing device.
Turn on the power to the SPARK SLS.
If the SPARK SLS is recognized by the computer as being connected, the screen for the SPARK SLS will show the choice between "File System" or "Interface". Interface will be selected by default so no action on your part will be required. Once a sensor is connected to the SPARK SLS, this sensor will be available within SPARKvue or the PASCO Capstone software.
Additional Troubleshooting
If your SPARK SLS does not show the Interface option when the SPARK SLS is connected to a computer running SPARKvue or Capstone, please check the following
- To make sure that the SPARK SLS can properly see the USB ports on its top, please press the reset button on the bottom of the SPARK SLS. This will turn off the SPARK SLS. When you turn it back on, it should have the interface selection screen available.
- If the interface selection screen is still not available, please check the version of the firmware that is on the SPARK SLS. If the SPARK SLS is not using version 1.4, please follow the instructions to update the firmware on the SPARK SLS. The links and instructions for this process are at the bottom of the previously linked page.
