Product Summary
The Discover Pi Set allows students to derive the meaning of pi directly from their measurements. This activity transforms pi from a constant with unknown origin to a fundamental characteristic of all circular objects.
How It Works
The set includes four pi circles with a slot which securely holds the transparent measuring tape against the circumference of the circle. Students wrap the tape around the circle until it overlaps the starting point. The circumference can then be read directly from the transparent tape. The tape can also be used to measure the diameter of the circle by utilizing the line on the back of the disc, which passes through the center of the circle.
