Perform three-point bending tests of various metals.
- 1x Base
- 1x Adjustable support anvil
- 1x Load anvil
Product Summary
Perform three-point bending tests of various materials, including beams from the PASCO Structures System. Support anvils have adjustable separation up to 10 cm.
How It Works
The Bending Accessory is an additional component for use with the Materials Testing System. This versatile accessory is designed for three-point bending tests.
Use with the Photoelasticity Accessory and clear plastic I-Beams to show increasing stress lines as pressure is applied to I-Beam sections.
Max separation: 10 cm
What's Included

- 1x Adjustable support anvil
- 1x Load anvil
Experiment Library
Perform the following experiments and more with the Bending Accessory.
Visit PASCO's Experiment Library to view more activities.
Photoelasticity
Photoelasticity is used to determine the stress distribution in birefringent plastics, such as polycarbonate. This experiment uses the clear polycarbonate beams from the PASCO Structures System. Two crossed polarizing sheets are...
Three Point Bending
In this lab, a Three-Point Bend test is performed on a round rod. The distance between the anvils is varied, and the resulting effect on the stiffness of the beam is measured. A graph of the resulting data yields the Flexural...
Bend Testing Cast Beams
In this lab, a three-point bend test is performed on Plaster of Paris cast beams and the Flexural Elastic Modulus for the material is calculated. The maximum load force at fracture is measured, and is used to calculate the Modulus...
Four Point Bending
In this lab, a Four-Point Bend Test is performed on ABS plastic beams from the PASCO Structures System and the Flexural Elastic Modulus for the material is calculated.
Bend Testing Beams
In this lab, a Three-Point Bend Test is performed on the ABS plastic beams included with the PASCO Structures System. Then, the Flexural Elastic Modulus for the material is calculated.
Round Rod Bending
In this lab, a three-point bend test is performed on a round rod. The Flexural Elastic Modulus for the material is calculated. Materials tested include aluminum, brass, and steel.
