Non-threaded and non-magnetic lab rod.
See the Buying Guide for this item's required, recommended, and additional accessories.
Product Summary
These 45 cm long, non-threaded stainless steel rods are ideal for providing support to your experiments in the lab. They are non-magnetic, very rigid, and durable. Unlike aluminum rods, they do not mar. The rods have a diameter of 12.7 mm (1/2 inch).
Available in 3 sizes:
- 45 cm Stainless Steel Rod (ME-8736)
- 90 cm Stainless Steel Rod (ME-8738)
- 120 cm Stainless Steel Rod (ME-8741)
Use with either of our 2 “A” Base lab stands:
- Large Rod Base (ME-8735)
- Small “A” Base (ME-8976)

Experiment Library
Perform the following experiments and more with the Stainless Steel Rod, 45 cm.
Visit PASCO's Experiment Library to view more activities.
Periodic Motion: Mass and Spring
Students use a Smart Cart to determine the physical properties of a vertical mass and spring system that affect its period of oscillation, and then use their data to support a mathematical model relating period, mass, and spring...
Magnetic Field Strength
Students use a 3-axis magnetic field sensor and the AC/DC electronics laboratory to determine how the strength of the magnetic field at the center of a current-carrying coil depends on the coil current and radius.
Conservation of Mechanical Energy
Students use a Smart Cart and dynamics system to explore how the kinetic energy, gravitational potential energy, and total mechanical energy of a cart/earth system changes as the cart rolls down an inclined track.
