Product Summary
The Centripetal Force Pendulum attaches to a Force Sensor and allows students to directly measure the forces involved in circular motion. By attaching the Force Sensor/pendulum combination to the Rotary Motion Sensor, the relationship between force, mass, and velocity in a circular path can be investigated.
How It Works
A sliding mass is used to easily change the effective length of the pendulum, which corresponds to the radius of the circular motion. In addition, drilled masses (not included) can be placed above the sliding mass to change the mass of the pendulum. The cord clip is used to keep the Force Sensor cord from interfering with the motion of the pendulum.
The cord clip is used to keep the Force Sensor cord from interfering with the motion of the pendulum.

Experiment Library
Perform the following experiments and more with the Centripetal Force Pendulum.
Visit PASCO's Experiment Library to view more activities.
Centripetal Force
The dependence of centripetal force on radius and angular velocity is investigated. A rigid pendulum hangs from a force sensor mounted directly onto the shaft of the Rotary Motion Sensor so both force and angular velocity are...
Centripetal Force on a Pendulum - Wireless
The purpose of this activity is to experimentally measure the centripetal force acting on a pendulum as a function of angular position. The experimentally measured value will be compared to the value predicted by measurements...
