Product Summary
The Geiger Counter Sample Holder provides easy mounting and superior position control for the PS-3238 Wireless Geiger Counter, improving the accuracy of inverse square law labs, radiation shielding labs, and other radiation labs. The plastic snout on the front of the Wireless Geiger Counter is designed to fit conveniently inside the Sample Holder Stand.
The Sample Holder stand includes a radioactive sample holder tray and five pieces of 0.4 mm thick aluminum shielding material. The stand has eight slots designed to hold the included radioactive sample holder tray or shielding material. Each slot in the holder is spaced 1 cm apart to make changing the spacing between the Wireless Geiger Counter, radioactive sample, or shielding materials quick and easy.

Determining the Relationship Between Distance and Radiation Count
Students measure the radiation count rate as a function of distance. They use their measurements to make predictions about the count rate at other distances. By inspecting the data, they find out the count rate varies by the inverse...
Modeling Absorption of Radiation
Students use a Geiger counter to measure the radiation from a radioactive sample of Sr-90. They use the radiation absorption equation to predict the counts after one aluminum shield is used and find the counts are much higher...
Types of Radiation
Students use a Geiger counter to measure the background radiation to calibrate the measurements of radiation source disks. They measure the count through various materials of an alpha, beta, and gamma source. They identify which...
