PASCO Academy Launches Distance Learning Courses for Physics and Chemistry
PASCO Academy is designed to lighten the load for science educators who have been working tirelessly to ensure their students have access to quality content throughout the COVID-19 school closures.
In light of the pandemic’s continuing impact on global education, PASCO has developed the PASCO Academy, an online program that provides distance learning resources, virtual labs and instructional support to science students and faculty. Currently, PASCO Academy offers full, 15-week courses for introductory physics and chemistry classes, each of which has its own dedicated instructors.
PASCO Academy is designed to lighten the load for science educators who have been working tirelessly to ensure their students have access to quality content throughout the COVID-19 school closures. With PASCO Academy, educators have access to a plethora of distance learning curriculum, virtual labs, data sets, and on-demand PD, enabling them to pick and choose which resources to utilize.
The PASCO Academy provides distance learning video segments, including a weekly overview video, a virtual lab investigation with corresponding student activities, and a follow-up video that ties the week’s learning objectives together. Registered educators have access to the Academy Portal, where they can access a library of distance learning videos, student labs, sample data files, software downloads, links to relevant information within the included Essential curriculum and more.
“Over the last few months, educators around the world have sprung into action, going above and beyond to support our schools during this unprecedented pandemic. Looking forward, it is difficult to imagine how science educators will be able to provide synchronous lessons to students enrolled in various learning models. In many cases, they are feeling overwhelmed. PASCO Academy: Physics and Chemistry provides quality instruction and lab demonstrations to distance learners to supplement their existing education,” said Richard Briscoe, President and CEO of PASCO Scientific.
